1Forty Are Here With Their Latest EP And It's A Heater

September 18, 2018

Since we spoke to 1Forty last time, the guys have been busy. They've celebrated a successful live stream event (check the bottom of the article), announced their takeover at NXT LEVEL in Leeds, built the brand across all of their socials and have just this week, released their latest EP.

The EP collates four UK Funky & Garage tracks from a blend of some of the most established and prominent names in the scene, and some of the most contemporary and fresh artists out there.

1. Killjoy Ft Shantie - Voices In My Head

2. Smokey ‘Bubblin’ B - Where’s Larry?

3. 9TRANE x Arridim - Plazma
4. Cardinal Sound - Ayy

Argubly one of 1Forty’s biggest collaborations yet comes from Tumble Audio’s longest standing servent Killjoy & UK Funky legend MC Shantie.

Having being a key player in Nottingham’s underground music scene for the past 6 years his productions have been duly rewarded with consistent releases in the last few years on the likes of Champion’s Label - Formula Records, and also Tumble Audio.

Jumping on the vocal is Shantie who arguably had the anthem of 2017 with ‘Runnin It Red’ alongside Champion. Having been in the spotlight for over 15 years across the Funky, Garage & Bass scenes he’s recently being championing the resurgence of Funky with Marcus Nasty on Rinse FM. To follow up on this 1Forty has arranged this long awaited collab between 2 giants of the UK scene.

Arrridim. 9Trane. Nuff said.

The two stalwarts of 1Forty have five releases between them since the launch of the Label last July and the time has come for them to collab. The result is a Funky & Bass infused melting pot of the two producers signature sounds combined - Plazma.

Smokey makes his debut on 1Forty with a bass shredding UKG track.

Smokey ‘Bubblin’ B is one of, if not the most active DJ’s & Producers in the Garage scene with a career spanning over 8 years in production. Releases on the likes of Sam Divine’s Label D-Vine Sounds as well as Low Steppa’s critically acclaimed Simma Black its proven that his production is always pushing the boundaries for UKG. Having collaborated with some of the finest names in the Garage scene such as MOAD (Mind Of A Dragon), B-Live, Hatcha and loads more its seen him play the majority of the London’s major venues on a heap of occasions.

Another debutant on the 1Forty imprint is the Strawberries and Creem Founder Cardinal Sound. The 24 year old London based producer has released with More Time Records & Durkle Disco just in the past year. 1Forty favourite Killa P jumped on the vocal for his More Time release which was entitled ‘Different Style’. Following this Logan Sama invited him on to BBC Radio 1 for a live mix alongside Killa. This release also springboarded the young producer into bookings at the likes of Fabric b2b w/ Jus Now in Room 1 and playing for The Heatwave at the last ever Secret Garden Party.
